Some Webmasters and SEOs may advise other methods are used.
We would discourage these. They are unnatural methods and
may have adverse long term implications because they use
external resources.
Unnatural Methods:
Unscrupulous Search Engine Optimisers (SEOs) may achieve success via so called 'Super Sites'. This does not involve any work on the clients' site other they merely receive a link from the other site. This may sound appealing as there appears to be little time and effort required to obtain these high rankings. However you are now totally dependant on this unnatural link source for success. If the link is broken your rankings will plummet back to their former position. As a consequence you will be compelled to maintaining the contract permanently and will have to continue paying thereafter for the privilege. Ultimately competitors could also subscribe to the same outside link source or even replace you in it! This would at best negate any benefits from the link in the first instance and be detrimental in the latter case.
Non Optimised Sites:
Internet business activity can only be generated by expensive alternatives. This will only last whilst the payments are made, so the expenditure outflow is constant.
It will either be in the form of costly site sponsorship or 'pay per click' business. Basically the sponsorship pays the Search Engine company to present your site on the first page of specific searches, along with the genuine results. Clearly it will only succeed for as long as you sustain theseĀ payments and costs can escalate if competitors are prepared to rival and outbid you for the privilege.
Likewise the 'pay per click' option charges you for each site visit generated by externally contracted sources. The visit may not result in business however the charge is still incurred. Prices fluctuate as you compet with others for particular keywords and preferential positioning in subscription directories. This is an open ended advertising budget!
